How many more years and years and years and years of "negotiation and diplomacy" will it take for peace? It certainly hasn't worked to date. It's not clear to me that we will EVER have peace in that region. Oh, no, it's worked great! You just have to understand what its real purpose is, which has nothing to do with peace in the region. "Don't you hit that Tar Baby, B'rer Rabbit!"
