I live just east of a large lake. The property surrounding it has huge, old cottonwood trees. There are two eagle nests several hundred yards apart in those trees. There is a place for people to park and watch with binoculars. They do not let anyone inside the fence to get close at all. They return year after year to those nests. Lots of prairie dogs in the area, so they eat well. I suppose they also fish, but I've never seen that.
