Jim-

First let me explain to you what Hextend exactly is. Hextend is a plasma extender. It will not replace whole blood transfusions, It doesn't carry oxygen. It is the carrying agent of the red bllod cells. In acute trauma, surgury, etc. patients need a volumn expander to prevent hypovolemia. Presently you could use whole blood(costly, poss. contamination, timely for X and match}, albumin (same problems) or Abbott's product Hespan( can only use small amt's because of blood clotting problems). Isn't it interesting since Abt makes the only compition for Hextend that they would be the company financially involved. Obviously, they see the clear superiority of Hextend to Hespan. Plasma extenders present have at least a $1 bill. market. ( I've heard est. up to $5 bill worldwide.) As an aside BTIM is deep into trials for another product callr Hetacool which will allow complete blood replacement during low temperature surgery (organ transplantation) and then returning the person's own blood back into the body. This is not sci-fi stuff. Anyway back to the financials. Phase 3 is completed without a problem. Findings to be released shortl(this month) prior to FDA approval(hopefully). I do not know about options but BTIM raised capital with a very sucessful warrant program at $30/share. I wanted more but could get anymor(oversubscribed). Remember this is a small co(15 emploees) and all are actively buying stock. I assume sales level will allow 35% royalties. I have heard of ABT production plants being built but have no solid substaniation. Thanks for your list of companies. If I could clear up any info., please let me know. I have been following this co. over a year. Best of luck, Rich
