james and yaacov. certainly not contemplating selling any coke today! just a note-- michael metz at oppenheimer doesn't foresee any rate hike by the fed through 2q '98. he's been bearish for the last 8 yrs so usually don't listen to him. but today's action is his element so tend to lend some credence to his views re the fed. yaacov, holding coke for 30 yrs isn't a bad idea but you need to consider yr own goals. how old are you. do you need income vs growth etc. i'm selling some of my coke if i can get a better price but that's because i need some cash, have too much coke in my portfolio and have a huge percentage gain if i sell soon. Also have big cap gains problem and the new rate is much more advantageous to me. so i have some personal reasons to want to sell which fit with my financial needs. you need to assess your own. even if you decide to sell yr bonds if you wait you can probably get a much better price in the next weeks or months. i assume you have bonds for income and not as an investment. is this true? i'll be happy if coke hits 65 this year. after today am less certain it will go there but don't think it will hit 70 in any case. james, do you own coke by the way. what do you think about new management?
