What do you think of the idea of the Treasury coming up with some innovative financing vehicles? Talk of a fifty year T-Bond, both indexed for inflation (oy!) and regular coupon are being floated. Speaking from a pension fund manager perspective, I would love to be able to buy some fifty year treasuries if the coupon was reasonable. Tie my plan's long-term liabilities directly to a guaranteed income stream..... Rates right now could be benefical to the government on these...and make a large chunk callable.... ??
