We have to develop our own sources for the new scarce commodities like lithium.

So I guess you'll have to pull that magic wand out and wave it around.

Apparently you must believe in alchemy and transmutation of elements.

The rest of us have to recognize that the most economical sources of lithium are in the Altacama plateau in the Andes, where upwards of 27% of all global Lithium is located.

And given Bolivia's connection with Chavez, I hardly think that's going to enhance our ability to secure access to those deposits.

And you gotta have lithium to make Li-Ion batteries if you want electric cars. So I really don't see the difference between subsidizing the oil industry, or the Lithium industry.

And if you think we should subsidize the domestic production of rare commodities like Lithium, how is that any different than subsidizing the production of domestic fossil fuels??
