I don't think anybody is "writing off" the carbon fuel infrastructure just yet. Over fifty years probably more than likely. There are thousands of us who are making a meaningful effort to do that and demonstrate to the public that it can be done. But as costs continue to drop more and more folks will take up being off the grid. You should welcome the development of new technologies that will eliminate our dependency of foreign oil.

The individual will finally be able to generate his own power. And much more reliably!
