Interesting we see the same thing in lithium as we do in oil.

Foreign sources (the Andes for lithium, the ME for oil) are lower cost than domestic sources. If cost were no object, we could replace all oil imports with oil from oil shale, Canadian oil sands, and liquified coal.

Clearly, we'll see the same foreign dependence issue with lithium we do with petroleum.
