Please note, as usual Sarman disappeared during that debate when i offer the solution. He always does. 99% of Jews support this position. Maybe its only 98% of israelis.

When israel won the 67 war, all their govt wanted to do was give up the west bank and gaza that they had just one. Remember this was Labor, not Likud. No one would take it. No one to give it to. They pleaded for recognition and conciliation. That got nothing back. Arab states said you broke it, its yours. I was at the University of Chicago in grad school majoring in this stuff and Arab friends warned me then of this outcome. One said there are 100mm of us and most of us want 100% of the land. Most are willing to let this go on forever before we concede one inch even though a few million of our bretheren will suffer for decades. I thought them nuts. For the most they thought their people were nuts too. Even the first settlements were done to force the arabs hand. Had no effect and then backfired in other ways with Likud and Greater Israel nonsense. No peace until arabs much less pals get real. They apparently never will and this all will be repeated again and again.
