You have to figure that there is some pent up demand for certain things like housing and cars that is going to eventually lead to some increased economic activity. I know a lot of people who would like to move but are waiting for a better housing market. Also, it might be good to hang onto your car for an extra year or two, but eventually people will need to replace their cars. I'd guess the economic picture will slowly improve in 2009 after some bleak numbers in the first third of the year. Then the recovery will take hold in 2010.
