I'm surprised that the article you posted was from Huffington, which is a notorious leftwing publication. Usually, leftwingers are all behind Gore.

Anyway, it had some good points in it. You probably have not read many of my posts if you think I identify with Gore. He's a puff artist. In other words, he's a salesman. And nowadays, he's selling climate change. To point to him and say that he is wrong on the science and that means that all scientists are wrong as well, is a leap of logic.

I might as well point to an oil exec and say he is wrong on the environmental impact of oil and therefore, all scientists that point out that CO2 is an amplifier and a non-pollutant must be wrong too. That would be silly and so I won't do it.

Anyway, I'm mostly interested in how this country can benefit from not being dependent on oil for economic and national security reasons. Climate change is real and I believe the science is pretty convincing that humans are contributing a significant amount of CO2, but all of that is a secondary debate to me. I'm more interested in not funding both sides of the war on terror and not pouring hundreds of billions into wars for oil and more hundreds of billions into enriching some of our enemies like Putin/Medvedev, Chaves, and Achmadenijad. In addition, I'm interested in making sure the US gets most of the economic benefits of getting the lion's share of the alternative energy patents as the world moves more and more to alternative energy as the main source of its energy supplies. To do all that, we need to be a leader in science and technology. We can fall behind in that and expect to stay ahead economically and militarily.
