My golf buddy has had a series of injuries and illnesses, so I haven't played in awhile. I miss it and should make an effort to get out there. Everyone thinks that the abalone disappeared from Catalina because they were over-fished. Not so. They acquired some sort of illness that attacked their suction cups and they couldn't grip the walls, so they died out. Back in the 50s & 60s, they covered the cliffsides at the Isthmus and Two Harbors and the entire west side of the island.
