A national Hispanic organization has compiled a list of 10 names to replace Bill Richardson as Commerce secretary, including Hector Ruiz, former CEO and chairman of Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

The League of United Latin American Citizens said it will give the list to President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team for consideration.

Richardson withdrew over the weekend because of a grand jury investigation into the awarding of state contracts in New Mexico, where he is governor. He said he didn’t want the investigation to be a distraction for the new president.

LULAC’s list includes several corporate leaders, including Ruiz; Antonio Perez of Eastman Kodak; Paul Diaz of Kindred Health Care and Jose Maria Alapont of Federal Mogul.

It also includes political leaders such as Albuquerque Mayor Marty Chavez and Miami Mayor Manny Diaz.

Ruiz, who lives in Austin, is now chairman of The Foundry Co., a spinoff of AMD’s manufacturing operations.
