Again, I never said ignore fossil fuels. Of course, they are part of the solution in the short term.
Also, I don't equate calling Pickens a charlatan with being against wind power. Wind and NG both have a role to play. Wind in some areas is cheaper than fossil fuels. And NG sounds like a great idea as a substitute for oil consumption that we have to buy from the Arabs.
I'm all for anything that reduces our trade deficit and the amount of money we send to the Middle East, Russia, and Venezuela. Is that specific enough for you? That's my number one short term goal for this country. If that means drill baby drill, or using NG, or anything else, then I'm all for it.
Over the long term, I think fossil fuels will price themselves out of the market. As such, I'd like to see us diversify in preparation for that over the coming decades, rather than have to undergo the pain of doing it all at once, when we suddenly realize we can't afford oil anymore or when we start spending hundreds of billions a year to remediate the damages from the symptoms of climate change. |
