I receive mail from Israel every day from friends, who definitely belong to the more reasonable and moderate of their citizens.
Just received this mail as a comment to Mark Steyn of yesterday. Speaks for itself, I guess.

what they should have done is isolate and punish Saddam from outside, possibly even take him out, but let his regime live and keep the Islamist fanatics in check (= murder them)

this would be the right thing to do for 2 reasons:

1. When the Moslems murder each other by the millions nobody blames the West. We should let them do it (and accept the few intellectual refugees like Wafa Sultan who would quietly lead maintain the cultural revolution of Islam FROM WITHIN)

2. There is no use to teach them democracy. Emancipate them and they will send suicide bombers instead of thanking you. So let them stew in their own juice until they kill enough of each other to know better.
Trying to force them to accept Western democracy is STUPID. It takes a Western mind to appreciate democracy.
When Palestinians were given democracy they voted for Hamas... The Western people are beyond this point as they know how to both appreciate and dfend democracy.
They have already elected Hitler democratically once and know the consequences. At least I hope they do."
