I've been thinking a lot about copper.

I read a LOT of mining PRs. In the last while I have read and posted PRs about the shut down of dozens of nickel mines, almost as many zinc mines (and the attendant silver and lead production), quite a few molybdenum mines, even the world's largest tantalum mine (a victim of blood tantalum from the Congo).

But I have seen very few closures or slowdowns in copper production, other than some developers putting off their plans due to financing problems. What do the decision-makers know that we don't, or are they just throwing the dice?
