And people simply can't afford the $40K for your electric cars (Volt, Karma) where fully 1/4 of the price is battery.

Some can, some can't. People buy $40K vehicles every day.

I'm still trying to figure why you think an electric vehicle has to be cheaper, better performing, more reliable, etc etc, all of those things together, to sell. No answer in your post.
