micro, I have previously reviewed the various ways in which certain companies do compete with Wave for certain functions of its software suite:

We know that Secude already offers the capability to manage Seagate FDE hard drives. It would be very surprising if Secude did not attempt to integrate every manufacturer of such devices into its software interface. This just makes sense. Just like it made sense for Wave to integrate SafeNet software encryption into its product.

The future belongs to hardware based FDE, but there is every reason for software FDE companies to offer management of hardware FDE under their existing software console. In my opinion, this is just a transitional strategy while enterprise users maintain a mixed inventory of software FDE and hardware FDE.

There is no technical reason that some other software maker could not combine TPM management and FDE management and offer a more comprehensive product that competes more fully with the Wave product. The only meaningful impediments to this are gaining the requisite expertise and the lack of a mature market to sell into.
