A very good friend of mine's 17-year-old son was killed in a car accident near Ensenada. It cost him almost $50,000 and a month to get his body back. He had to hire local attorneys, pay for the "investigation," pay fines to different local authorities, pay the coroner, the mortuary, etc.

There's been several kidnappings for ransom. The drug war has escalated to the point where there are mass killings.

Another friend, who lives in San Diego, used to go to a golf course in Tijuana with a couple of friends. Their car was forced off the road and they were robbed. They don't go there anymore.

There was a recent story on the local news about a couple who used to go to Mexico in their motorhome. They were interviewed and said that one night there was a knock on their door and a gang of Mexicans stormed in taking everything they could -TV, stereo, coffee maker, clothes, kitchen equipment, microwave, etc. - and gang raping the woman.

Tijuana/Baja has become a dangerous place for Gringos now.
