A couple of years ago I spent 6 weeks driving all over New Zealand. In all that time I only saw one highway patrol car. But, they have radar and cameras on every traffic light and all along the highways. The whole process of issuing a ticket is automated. If you fail to pay it on time they give you an all expense paid vacation in the local calaboose.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, speeds or runs red lights over there.

I must admit that the Kiwis are extremely polite people and it will take a long time to make the process work here. We will probably have to double the fines for ACLU members to get it passed. But, it will save lives and money when and if it is implemented on a large scale.

Best to all,

JRH
