One of the interesting big picture events to play out is the socket 7 issue vs. Intel's plan to innovate and change the competitive playing field. It's encouraging to see the potential IDTI/AMD/etc. opportunities sustainable (with memory design strategies, etc.) since they are unorganized on this competitive front with Intel. There may yet be a post-Socket 7 third party technology or idea which the clone MPU'ers could embrace to add unexpected new life to the X86 world . Any suggestions?
