Bob--what it really showed was how reluctant Americans are (were) to believe that there may be limits to growth that is fueled by burning carbon. Kyoto was simply politically impossible to pass in this country at that time. The problem of transforming the economy to run on safer fuels is enormous, and it is just complicated by people who don't believe that there is any problem with it.

But, as I said in a previous post, the fact that you are one of those people makes it impossible for us to have a dialogue about this. I will leave it to Eric because, to me, having the conversation is about as exciting as having a conversation about whether continental drift is a reality or not. How, after all, can anyone in their right mind believe that continents actually move?! It is beyond common sense....
