PS: Can you believe that Madoff is still out on bail?
Someone is pulling some very big strings on this one.
They aren't even seizing assets from his apartment, after Madoff was caught mailing jewelry out to friends & family, and after the Feds discovered millions in signed checks in his office desk drawer ready to be sent out.
Get caught with over $1,000 in cash on a traffic stop and they'll confiscate your money and YOU must prove your innocence to get back... but, not Bernie!
Bernie can admit to stealing the money in a $50 Billion Ponzi scheme.
Then the Fed's can find millions in signed check in his desk drawer ready to be mailed out to friends and family.
Then they can catch him trying to mail out a million dollars+ in jewlery out of his penthouse.
...and not only do they let him stay free on bail - they don't confiscate any of the valuable out of his penthouse!
I wish I could find the link to where a lady had $10,000 in cash she had saved up to remodel her house, and was on her way to Home Depot to pay for materials so the contractor could start on her project, when she got stopped in a routine traffic stop and the police seized her cash.
No drugs, no criminal background. 60 years old.
She's guilty until she can prove she's innocent...and Bernie who not only ADMITTED he's guilty, get's caught 2 different ways of trying to sneak out checks & jewlery and the Fed's still won't seize, or confiscate valuables from his apartment and he's still free on bail.
Here's what would happen to you and I...

The deputies handed Gonzalez a waiver: If he signed over the money and did not claim the currency, he could walk away free. If he did not sign the waiver, he would be arrested for money-laundering. Gonzalez signed the waiver and gave up rights to his money.
"So at that time we got in our car and we left, still trying to figure out what just happened. We got officers that took our cash. We got officers that told us we can't get an attorney. So I'm thinking, are these guys officers of law? Did I just get robbed of my money?"
Gonzalez hired an attorney, who filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. The county fought it, and lost. In April, the county returned his $10,032 and paid him $110,000 in damages, plus attorney's fees. |
