The Gazans should have known how it would turn out. Hamas never made a secret of their plan to eliminate Israel from the map, to kill as many Israelis as possible and to chase the rest of them into the sea.

Me think that the Germans had not voted the Nazis into power if they had known how it would turn out, though. The Nazis didn't tell up front what their plans for 1939-45 were and most likely had no clue themselves.
