50-60....Tropicana to cut 50-60 jobs by April
By GRACE GAGLIANO - gagostin@bradenton.com

BRADENTON — Tropicana will lay off 50 to 60 positions at its Bradenton juice plant by the end of March.

The job cuts to the 1,600 employee workforce will occur through attrition and voluntary severance packages, which were negotiated with the union, Spokeswoman Karen May said Monday.

The decision comes after the plant at 1001 13th Ave. E. eliminated 40 positions in October and at a time when orange juice retail sales continue to fall.
A Tropicana official said this morning the company plans to cut 50-60 hourly positions at its Bradenton plant by the end

On Monday, Florida Citrus Mutual, a Lakeland-based trade association for orange growers, reported a 3 percent sales decline in orange juice sales during a four-week period ending Dec. 20.
