150....Flextronics plans to shed 150 jobs

By Patrick Howington • phowington@courier-journal.com • January 13, 2009

Electronics company Flextronics plans to eliminate about 150 jobs at its plant in southern Jefferson County, according to a filing with the state.

The Singapore-based company, which makes and services electronics components for products such as cell phones and printers, disclosed the job cuts in a notice to the Kentucky Cabinet for Workforce Development.

The company's facility off Preston Highway has about 1,000 employees, spokeswoman Judy Bradshaw said.

The job cuts are in response to "normal changes in customer requirements," according to an e-mail from Renee Brotherton, vice president of corporate communications at Flextronics' U.S. headquarters in San Jose, Calif
