400...Two companies plan about 400 Wis. layoffs

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - State officials say a Beloit factory will shut down, cutting nearly 300 jobs, and an Eau Claire plant will lay off another 100 workers.

The Department of Workforce Development reported Monday on the latest companies to file notices of upcoming closures.

Cleveland-based Alcoa Wheel Products said it will shut down its Beloit plant, beginning March 15 and continuing about two months. The closure affects about 293 workers.

Hutchinson Technology Inc., based in Hutchinson, Minn., said it will close its photo etch operations in Eau Claire between March 13 and 27, eliminating about 100 jobs.
