Of course they needed to be replaced ASAP. Doesn't mean they couldn't do any work beforehand. Or just go to the local Staples in NW D.C. and get a few extra keyboards.

But that doesn't excuse the prank itself. Very unbecoming of the office of the presidency.

If you think the need to replace those keyboards ASAP points to an incompetency with Bush staffers, then you're still making s--t up. As usual. All to defend a petty prank. Don't you realize how this makes you look?
