Nows a good time to do some vol moving avg work. If your stocks have had higher vol moving avg over the last 90 days versus the previous 90 days, better sell em. In Sideways neg trend markets (this market since July 2007) the most valuable companies should register substantial declines in an issues vol moving avg, in the current period.

high vol above the previous 90 day period, normally illustrates massive distribution. some of the big banks are in this boat.

Sample day of naz.For Jan 09, 2009 Share Volume Dollar Volume
Total Volume: 1,987,015,743 $35,976,687,099
Block Volume: 237,180,479

Number of Issues: 3,142 this is a new decade low for participation by public floats.

Stock Buy backs continue to be aggressive.....

Naked short selling is the only way that the printed Total Volume: 1,987,015,743 could occur against this shrunken float.

This is about the same avg days trade as
when 4,700 floats were routinely trading.

lotta inertia in this trade, little clearing, and no market prices.Desking has become the normal behavior of the dealer trade.

They be braking ALL the rules for shorting 401 K & IRA accounts, supposed to be off limits..Not anymore, broken dealers are aggressively shorting these purchases in an attempt to keep the fees coming from the hedgies.
