Temper, temper....Microsofts arrogance will be it's undoing as well as the possibility of defocusing from their core business. Throwing billions at cable companies, hum, risky, Malone owns the industry and he will probably outwile Gates. i.e. They need cash and the cable companies haven't exactly been a great investment over the last 5 years (although last year they did recover nicely). I don't understand why MSFT has to push the limits on on IE 4. They don't need to force resellers to "package" (as MSFT says) they way they've demanded because they have enough marketing muscle and financial strength to outlast Netscape. Also, in order for NT to catch up with UNIX over the next several years, MSFT is going to have to spend loads of money on R&D, as well as marketing. Do yoj think they will maintain their profit margins where they've been as well as EPS growth. I've held MSFT stock since 1988 (and I still do) and I'm really worried that the house of cards is starting to build. I've talked to some of the top analysts who cover MSFT and they, even the ones who rate it a buy, are concerned. In reality I probably won't sell my MSFT, since I think over the next 10 years it will do quite well, but the short-term their could be a potential hit. I also bought a bunch of Sunw when it was around $25 so I'm not too unhappy and I think they've got a great future as well. Just out of curiosity, do you also own INTC ?. How about CSCO ?. One more thing, MSFT's CFO Maffei reminds me of a used car salesman. What's his track record ?
