Ork, it's SOCIAL SECURITY, not a retirement plan. The words themselves mean a program designed to ensure that some level of basic well-being is maintained for the elderly and disabled. The whole conservative argument that it should be treated more like a retirement plan ignore the whole reason for the program IMO.

If you get past the idea that it is a retirement plan, then I think the idea that it is regressive is actually rather silly.
