Summary: Fox & Friends' Brian Kilmeade falsely suggested that only "people at the U.N." want to close Guantánamo, while co-hosts Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson, as well as Glenn Beck, used TV drama 24 as a justification for the use of torture. In fact, Sen. John McCain, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and five former secretaries of state are among those who have said that Guantánamo should be closed.

It is my understanding that GWB wants Gitmo closed, too, but he understands that it is a difficult thing to do. Obama now understands it, as well. His promise to close it on day one has now morphed into months and frankly, probably years.

This pretty much does it for me........I mean, we're fighting an uphill battle at nearly a 90º angle. Now they're using fictional tv shows to support their positions. I mean.....how can anyone compete with Hollywood?

There is no more egregious instance of this than American voters actually believing that Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her home.

Drawing the parallel with 24 is a totally legitimate comparison. The term "Jack Bauer Moment" was coined during the primaries to describe a particular circumstance. Nobody is confused about the fact that 24 is fiction. But everyone realizes that Congress has a hard on against using rough techniques to get answers in difficult circumstances. THAT isn't fiction.
