Yes, I have read the whole piece. At least two tried to recalculate the performance by trying this split strike options model. None was able to beat the US treasury yield, let alone 8 or 12%. Second there were no positions, just cash at then end of quarter, but in many cases no significant exchange volumen for options in which he allegedly traded etc. The conclusion was, either he frontruns customer orders to the benefit of the funds, or it is fictituous. Either way... Now many so called feeder funds and funds which posed as funds of funds but channelled all their investments to madoff instead of materially diversifying feel the heat and lawyers go after them.
