Re: on Gore's watch I think he would have done something just as stupid as Bush It's the top-bracket tax cuts that created all that hot/stupid money that chased high yielding manure. Bush wrecked the 12 years of very hard work done by Bush Senior/Ross Perot/Bill Clinton - which 3 I give credit for prepping the nation for the Baby Boomer Bust. Then Bush Junior just flushed it all down the toilet. Out of spite, as near as I can tell. Why bankrupt a country on the verge of a demographic challenge like the BB retirements? Bush Sr./Ross Perot/Bill Clinton were willing to take a lot of political heat to do what was needed for the country, and the job was done and done well. Why did Bush Jr have to flush it down the toilet?
