I posted this stroy about my daughter on Mish's thread and thought you and Sioux pal might like it. It is about my olderr daughter.
She applied to several universities in California, but when Berkeley accepted her we told her she had to go.
She wanted to go to UC San Dieago or Santa Barbara. It is sort of funny. Bree, my daughter, was raised in a way that would make most conservatives cringe. Few rules and as her mother and I are old hippes there was always a lot of crazyness around and constant debating.
Out of all of this comes this little miss goody two shoes. Her room was always neat, her homework always done and she always was in honors courses. And she never did anything wrong-lol.
Sometimes I would say to her: "look, I can write you a letter and we can go to the beach". she would say, "dad I have to go to school-lol.
My favorite story I have never told on SI. When Bree was 14 her stepdad (he was a great stepdad), who was in the state legislature at the time, and I were drinking beer and smoking pot. It is legal in Alaska.
In a sanctamonius moment her stepdad turned to her and said: "but you are not allowed to smoke this stuff until you are 18. She put her hands on her hips and said to us:
"let me get this straight, I am not the problem, you guys are the problem"-lol. she never did smoke pot, drink much or do anything even remotly wrong.
Her mother and I tell people we were worried about her and so sent her to Berkeley to get into sex, drugs and rock and roll-lol.
She married a real nice guy she met at Berkely and has a very sweet marriage and life. Her husband teaches physics at a university in Oregon and I am still the wild one-lol. |
