True, but, outside of USC, the PAC-10 teams have always played the non conference as if they were pre season. They are trying out players and plays toning up for conference play. For example, Oregon's star quarterback, Masoli, was third string and got his first start against Boise State. A concussion in the first quarter took him out and that game cost them a national ranking early on. Anyone who saw them play Oklahoma State in the bowl game will find it hard to imagine this team without Masoli. Oregon State won a bowl game even without the Rogers Brothers, who cost USC an undefeated season. So, the foreigners are not often seeing the Pac 10 teams that USC and Cal see every year.
