I say thatObama won the election as the result of a failed economy- pure and simple. The facts are that despite running against the most unpopular president in recent, if not all history. Despite Bushe's unpopular war, depite the Republican corruption, breaking of promises and general ineptness. John McCain totally baffled the pundits and was well ahead in September.

McCain ineptly handled the bail out. (The smart thing would have been to resist it.) Instead he became associated with the good old boys of which he was one and people voted for Obama in the hope that he could change things. Sadly I am not expecting that. But perhaps he will suprise me and it will work out. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
