Application for the delisting of Alcatel-Lucent shares from Euronext Amsterdam, Euronext Brussels and Six Swiss Exchange
January 12th, 2009 · No Comments
By Alcatel-Lucent Press Release

Paris, January 9, 2009 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced it has submitted applications for the delisting of its ordinary shares from Euronext Amsterdam, Euronext Brussels and Six Swiss Exchange.

On December 11, 2008, the Board of Directors of Alcatel-Lucent (the “Company”) decided to delist the Company’s ordinary shares from these three stock exchanges.

This decision takes into account the small trading volumes, in recent years, of Alcatel-Lucent shares on Euronext Amsterdam, Euronext Brussels and Six Swiss Exchange compared to the total trading volumes of Alcatel-Lucent shares globally. The Board of Directors concluded that the costs of maintaining the Company’s listing and registration in the Netherlands, in Belgium and in Switzerland respectfully are disproportionate to the benefits obtained by the Company and its shareholders as a whole. The impact of the delisting from such stock exchanges on local investors should be limited in light of investors’ access to other major stock exchanges such as Euronext Paris, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the London Stock Exchange, where the Company is listed.

Subject to Euronext Amsterdam’s and Euronext Brussels’s approval, the delisting should be completed by the end of February. Subject to Six Swiss Exchange’s approval, the delisting should be completed by May 2009.

The delisting will not have any impact on business activities of Alcatel-Lucent in those countries.
