I actually agree with you. I think a more hardlined approach is to our advantage. Prolonging this with negotiations which are largely ignored by them over the long term only gives them the advantage over the long term.

It's pretty clear that Hamas only offers ceasefires when they run out of bullets and missles. And once they rearm, no more ceasefire. I'm pretty sure that behavior would translate to Iran as well.

I might want to give them more than 48 hours so as to give the population a little more time to 1. evacuate or 2. Overthrow the radicals.

I think that deep down, most muslims just want to live and raise their families like the rest of the world. In fact, I am certain that the mullahs and imams aren't anxious to collect their 72 virgins, nor are they sending their kids out to blow themselves up. In other words, they are still driven by the instinct to survive.

Waiting until they are stronger to negotiate certainly seems like a bad idea to me.
