I agree--playing copycat can work. Much earlier on, SEEK blew a great opportunity: two years ago or so they were ahead of the pack, but didn't innovate, and above all didn't market successfully. With the recent change of management they may have got a grip. What they've done in recent weeks is laudable--I really do like the new look and feel of the site--and they appear to have a considerable, and loyal, following.

And that counts: gotta confess, when I want information, I automatically go to Yahoo--that's the search engine I started with, and with which I'm most familiar. I only go elsewhere if I can't find what I want. Not that I don't find it irritating--all the irrelevant junk it spits up--much of the time, but it's what I'm used to.

It organizes things very nicely indeed. SEEK should perhaps take note. But of course the market cares about the bottom line. My take on earnings is that they were okay--not good enough to thrill, not bad enough to frighten. What the Street'll want to see now are more advertising deals...
