Cockatoo Coal's has announced that it added additional 105 million tonnes of coal from the Surat project, one of 5 coal exploration areas owned 100% by it in the Surat Basin of Queensland.
Surat project comprises of EPCs 796, 813, 1041, 1134, 1135, 1136 and 1170 and EPCAs 1278 and 1322 covering an area of approximately 3,800 square kilometer.
It is currently using 2 drill rigs to systematically drill test targets within this extensive tenement holding. Through the scout drilling program detailed below, an area in the south of the Horse Creek area, primarily in EPCs 796 and 1041, referred to as the Kruger deposit, was identified as an area of significant potential.
It further said that two inferred resources of 38.2 million tonnes and 66.6 million tonnes, totaling 104.74 million tonnes of raw product at a 10:1 strip ratio, using a density of 1.45 gram per centimeter cube have been delineated, covering a total area of 1,012 hectares.
Open hole drilling to an average depth of approximately 130 meters has been undertaken in EPCs 796, 813 and 1041. The drill hole collars are on average 1 kilometer apart with holes drilled 500 meters apart in follow up areas where results have warranted further investigation.
Drilling results over the Surat project have intercepted up to 14.1 meters of cumulative coal average cumulative coal intercepts of 7.3 meters and calculated BCM:T strip ratios of 9.7:1. The open hole drilling program with selective follow up core drilling for coal quality test work will continue over the coming months, designed to elevate other targets within its Surat project to a JORC standard resource estimate. |
