Rio denies plan to sell Coal & Allied

steelguru.com

It is reported that Rio Tinto has denied rumors it is planning to sell its Coal and Allied operations in the New South Wales Hunter Valley saying these are just speculation and no announcements have been made.

Rio has announced big job cuts elsewhere in New South Wales and Western Australia this week.

Mr Mark Nuitta, investment manager with Asandas stock broking thinks Rio will be looking closely at assets to sell. He added that "I think Rio as a company will be looking at what assets they want to keep, which ones they think are the most profitable and which ones they're going to offload to reduce that debt level."
