Who says book publishing is dead? From the New York Observer, here is a list of who's coming out with what, below.

We know two of the authors, Erin Arvedlund and Richard Behar, and can safely assume that their books will be formidable. Arvedlund first broke the Madoff story for Barron's in 2001 and Behar is big time investigative reporter who has taken on Scientology for Time and lived to tell about it.

Erin Arvedlund, Penguin's Portfolio Imprint, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, First Broke Story For Barron's In 2001

Richard Behar, Random House, Crack Investigative Reporter

Robert Frank, No Publisher Yet, WSJ Wealth Blogger and Richistan-author

Fredi Friedman, No Publisher Yet, Formerly Of Little, Brown

John Gapper, No Publisher Yet, Financial Times Columnist

Andrew Kirtzman, HarperCollins, Former NY1 Reporter

Deborah and Gerald Strober, Phoenix Books, Catastrophe: The Story of Bernard L. Madoff, The Man Who Swindled the World, Biographers, Due Out In March

Unknown (Publishing circles talking about another book but no one has details)

How many more do you think they'll be? Will they sell?

Henry Holt Signs Up Times' Lead Madoff Reporter to Write Bernie Book

Henriques

One of the eight Bernie Madoff books we reported on yesterday morning just got signed up by Paul Golob at Henry Holt's Times Books imprint. This is the one agent Fredi Friedman was selling; the author is the New York Times' senior financial reporter Diana Henriques.

Ms. Henriques, who has written some of the Times' biggest Madoff pieces since the scandal broke—including Prominent Trade Accused of Defrauding Clients on December 12th, 2008 and The 17th Floor, Where Wealth Went to Vanish, from the December 15th—is tentatively calling her book World of Lies.

If the press release issued by Holt this morning is any indication, the talking points on how Ms. Henriques' book will be better than the ones being written by Erin Arvedlund, Richard Behar, Andrew Kirtzman, and all the others are going to be focused on her "impressive roster of trusted sources" accumulated over the course of years on the financial beat, and the interviews she has conducted with Mr. Madoff himself.

According to the release, "No other reporter brings to this story Henriques' level of experience and knowledge, and her book promises to be the definitive account of what Madoff did, how he pulled it off, how it all came crashing down around him, and its implications in the United States and around the world."
