FWIW, the Democratic Administration is leaning the other way. The bad extreme of that is socialism, not fascism. Those differ - they are, in fact, polar opposites. But we are not going to that extreme, hopefully, although I can't guarantee that. -g-
On a positive note, socialism is entrenched in all modern democracies in a way of taxes. Sure, this slows down economic growth, but at a price of creating a safety net and basic human rights for the society as a whole. Medical care is one of those. In a way, Marx was right - at least part of the way, although a pure socialist society proved to be ineffective. The Central Bank is supposed to be a socialist organization. In the United States it's the pillar of fascism. I don't think the US or the World are going to rediscover fascism OR communism. These are political mistakes of the past. I do think, however, that the social safety net (socialism) will play increased role in the US economy going forward - perhaps, taking a bigger part of the economic pie similar to that in Germany, Canada, or other developed countries. |
