No clinton and pre 9/11 bush failed at protecting us. Post 9/11 bush got it but then overshot both in terms of invading iraq and resorting to disputed interrogation techniques. No one alive on 9/12 expected the US not to get hit in 8 years. So for that you have to give him credit. That doesnt change the fact that the man is an idiot who outsourced his presidency to cheney, rummy and rove who kept telling poor old george that he was the decider. Essentially i agree with you Al but i will not dismiss the one accomplishment that he clearly has achieved. I will give you another one just to aggravate you a little more. The surge worked in the sense that it energized the tribal chieftans to turn on al queda so in a sense bush prevented the loss in iraq that rummy had crafted for him.
