I'm all for protecting as much of the environment as possible. But let's be practical, we live in a society that encourages unfettered reproduction by people who cannot support their own. This means that there is going to be an ever increasing need for infrastructure to support a growing population. Our energy demands are not going to decrease. At best, a few windfarms will give us a sense that we are doing a little bit to help relieve the strain on the real energy supplies. We can then give ourselves a little green attaboy. But in the whole grand scheme of things...<yawn>. Solar and Wind power generation are the least reliable and least space efficient forms of energy. At least with hydro you can count on the water reservoir to supply 24/7 stored energy. Wind generation can be capricious and solar is predictably unreliable once the sun goes down.

I really am tempted to try to start a movement for a week without coal. Maybe it will give a shot to the nuclear biz.
