I think its mostly a cyclical occurrence. Of course their are unique factors in this case, but their typically are unique factors (just different ones).

Which doesn't mean it has to be very mild. The recession in the early 80s could be considered cyclical or largely cyclical despite its unique factors (mostly the high inflation that preceded it, requiring a worse than normal recession to tame).

I understand that you think that we should be thinking more about the 30s and less about the early 80s when we ware looking for a time period to compare the current situation with. I don't agree.

And its not that I haven't personally been affected by the situation. I don't want to give a lot of detail, but its already affected my income, and I have a relative who's job has been cut to part time.

What I see as systematically dangerous, is not the problem itself, but the reactions to it and plans to deal with it.
