As for:

Wind doesn't work in Florida as you would notice if you ever came down in July or August.

Solar however...


Offshore Florida is classed as good for wind as west TX:
windpoweringamerica.gov

As for solar, Florida's about as good as Dallas or OK City:

Okay, so offshore Florida can be filled with windmills to power the cities along the coast and we can fill up the scrub land in the interior with solar farms.
