It is wise to stick with companies that are outperforming their peers, especially in the tough economic times we are facing.

Even with this as a backdrop, Wall Street will toss out the babies with the bathwater and they will often overlook value during hard times. Sometimes, the value of a company doesn't show up in the profit and loss columns. In the semi industry, its important to ask if the cash flow will continue to be positive down the road. Today's leaders are not always tomorrow's winners. Similarly, are the barriers to entry such that a small company's IP is worth far more then their sales/profits, due to years of research. If the market is finally catching up with the company's "future" tech?

Normally, I would agree with you but looking at the state of global economy, why not stay with companies that are CF positive despite lower sales and pricing pressures?
