I believe a large number of people are simply relieved that the Dumbyasshole is gone. Another group may be celebrating the fact that we have made history by having the first African-American President. The subset of people expecting miracles is rather small, though such folks do exist. The problems we face today were not created overnight. They have been caused by a generation (~30 years) of crony capitalism, rampant corruption and a complete lack of regulation (euphemistically called "laissez faire"). And they certainly can't be fixed overnight. Surely President Obama can articulate that and he certainly will do that in the coming days and weeks and months.
